VINEYARD: A portion of the Clos de la Cure vines are located in a beautiful walled vineyard near the church of Saint Christophe des Bardes on the plateau of Saint Etienne de Lisse. While the average vine age is 30 years, it is believed that vines were planted on these plateaus in the Middle Ages.
SOIL: Old sandy soils, sandstone (hardpan) and iron deposit in one parcel, gravel in the other.
VITICULTURE: Densely planted at 6600-9000 vines per hectare. The Bouyers farm sustainably and rigorously including debudding, leaf-thinning and green harvesting.
VINIFICATION: Prefermentation cold soaking. Vinified in tank with punch downs followed by a 4 week maceration in temperature controlled tanks. 40% malolactic fermentation in barrel, the rest in tank which is later transferred to barrel for ageing on the lees.
AGING: Aged 12-15 months in French oak, 50% of which is new.

Lots of blackberry and currant aromas with a floral and fresh basil undertone. Full-bodied, chewy and layered with gorgeous fruits and intensity. Big wine. Exciting. Needs four or five years to soften.
