Chateau La Fon du Berger Haut-Médoc Cru Bourgeois

Château La Fon du Berger is just 3km west of Pauillac between the estuary and the ocean, providing an ideal micro-climate for the vineyards. It’s a family estate, run by Gérard Bouges since 1983. He has planted mostly Cabernet Sauvignon, best suited to the gravel terroir, and has planted with a high density of vines to naturally lower yields. The estate respects tradition and uses sustainable agriculture principles: no pesticides, green cover, leaf removal and green harvesting. 12 to 14 months ageing in French oak barrels.

He adapted the grapes varietals plantation with a predominant Cabernet-Sauvignon matching to his unique terroir of gravels, and high density, to reach natural low yields. From the short pruning of the vines to the bottling at the estate the estate is dedicated to the utmost care while respecting the tradition and using Sustainable Agricultures principles: no use of pesticides, green covering, leaf removal and green harvesting.
