Stranahans Colorado Whiskey Diamond Peak
ABOUT
ABOUT
Stranahan's Diamond Peak is selected from distillery's oldest casks by master distiller Rob Dietrich. Distillery ages the Colorado Single Malt Whiskey in #3 Char American Oak Barrels in their mile-high warehouse in Denver, Colorado. This Whiskey is non-chill filtered and cut to proof with Rocky Mountain water. Every Batch is hand bottled.
TastingNotesNose: Like fresh baked cinnamon-banana bread drizzled in caramel. English toffee, light melon and a faint soggy old-person cereal are present, along with some funky malt and youthful oak. Overall a solid nose. It does shift towards a dry, dusty oak and a light brew coffee after about 10 minutes, but the spicy, sweet banana bread remains the focus.
Sip: The first thing I notice is that it is a little thin. Cereal, thick sugary toffee and honey upfront. Banana pudding and hints of ripe tropical fruit shift to a more mature oak than what is in the nose, and not at all bitter. Some funky barley sticks around in the back, but it is accompanied by a big cinnamon and clove spice, and a sweet pipe tobacco.
Finish: Honey, banana and young grain. Some lumber.
