2022 Vina Ilusion Rioja Red

Viña Ilusión's 2022 Rioja Red is a testament to the winery's dedication to organic and natural winemaking practices. Situated in the Rioja Oriental sub-region, founders Martín Alonso and Gloria Plaza Medina have cultivated approximately 12 acres of vineyards since 1992, adhering to permaculture and biodynamic principles. Their commitment to sustainability is evident, with the winery powered by solar energy and the use of sheep for natural fertilization. This blend of Tempranillo and Garnacha grapes is hand-harvested and fermented with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel tanks, resulting in an unoaked wine that showcases the pure expression of its terroir.

Nose: The bouquet opens with vibrant aromas of mixed berries and red fruits, complemented by subtle floral undertones and a hint of minerality, reflecting the high-altitude vineyards from which the grapes are sourced.

Palate: On the palate, this medium-bodied wine delivers juicy flavors of plums and cherries, supported by lively tannins and clean acidity. The absence of oak aging allows the fruit's natural brightness to shine through, offering a fresh and approachable profile.
