Don Julio Private Cask Reposado Tequila The Prime Barrel Pick #35

At last, we pulled a trigger on a tequila barrel! I know this is a whiskey-first club, but if you like us, you probably dabble in other fine spirits, and The Don Julio brand has a special meaning for us - some of us spent our golden years as single guys drinking it. When the opportunity presented itself, we jumped on it. Few barrels are available nationally, so this is pretty rare.

Some things to consider. Tequila Don Julio Reposado Private Cask is a limited edition barrel program where a select number of single cask barrels have been hand-selected and aged for 10 months. That is two more months than traditional Reposado, resulting in a rich and nuanced flavor that varies from barrel to barrel. It also has a higher proof than the standard edition, coming in at 85.4 proof (vs. 80 proof).  Since Reposado was the first variant that Don Julio González distilled under his name, the Tequila Don Julio Reposado Private Cask program pays homage to the variant by providing tequila aficionados with a limited-edition aged Reposado never before sold.

As it is a norm with all barrels we select,t $5 from each bottle sold will go to support a charity. This barrel will support the Concerns of Police Survivors Charity.  They take care of families left by a line of duty deaths of Police/Corrections

Nose: butterscotch, licorice, ginger, white pepper, clove, oak

Palate: cinnamon, clove, yellow plum, cucumber, mint, apricot, ginseng, mint, almonds

Finish: long finish that's delicately spicy and nutty
