Much like Oregon, the Pacific Northwest’s other major wine player has made it clear that while they respect the pioneering of California, their goals are different. Washington also pays homage to dirt, to earth, to the minerality that wines like Riesling can exhibit. But Washington’s true greatness is found with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Syrah.
