ABOUT

The 2021 “Double Trouble” captures everything Washington does best: ripe, sun-drenched fruit wrapped in cool-desert freshness. Syrah from Wahluke Slope supplies the brooding blueberry, black pepper, and smoked-herb swagger, while Cabernet Sauvignon from Horse Heaven Hills adds structure, cassis depth, and that unmistakable Columbia Valley polish.
Each variety ferments separately in stainless steel to preserve brightness—Syrah with gentle punch-downs for aromatic lift, Cabernet with slow pump-overs for firm but round tannins. The blend rests ten months in a mix of seasoned French and American barrels, just enough to weave in cocoa, cedar, and sweet tobacco without muting the juicy core.
The result is plush yet lively: a dark-fruited, medium-plus–bodied red with violet perfume, blackberry compote, espresso dust, and a flash of savory spice. Smooth tannins and a dry, balanced finish make it dangerously drinkable—weeknight-easy, weekend-worthy, and built for generous pours.

TASTING NOTES

Nose: Blackberry, cassis, and blueberry jam with violet, smoked peppercorn, and warm cedar.

Palate: Lush black cherry and ripe plum glide across velvety tannins, accented by espresso, cocoa nib, and sweet tobacco.

Finish: Dry and lingering, echoing dark fruit, mocha, and a subtle mineral snap.

FOOD PAIRING

Bring it to grilled tri-tip, smoky barbecue ribs, or a mushroom-cheddar burger—the blend’s dense fruit, savory spice, and smooth structure make every hearty, flame-kissed dish taste even better.
