ABOUT

Poderi Cellario E’Orange is a distinctive natural orange wine from the renowned Langhe region in Piedmont, Italy. This unique blend of Nascetta and Favorita grapes captures the essence of traditional winemaking practices with a modern twist. Produced by the innovative Poderi Cellario winery, E’Orange showcases their dedication to natural and sustainable viticulture. The result is an intriguing and vibrant wine that stands out for its complexity and character.

Fausto and Cinzia Cellario are 3rd generation winemakers in the village of Carru` on the western outskirts of the Langhe. The family believes in only working with local, indigenous Piemontese grape varieties and fiercely defends local winemaking traditions both in the vineyard work and the cellar practices. The Cellario vineyard holdings cover some 30 ha between 5 different vineyard sites covering the southern Langhe. With holdings in Novello and Monforte, the Dogliani plot is arguably the family’s most prestigious land and I would consider them Dolcetto specialists. Vineyard work is organic (soon to be certified) and all the fermentation take place with indigenous yeasts. Sulfur is only added in tiny quantities at bottling if necessary (a practice not common with a winery in this mid-size range).

TASTING NOTES

Nose:
The aromatic profile of E’Orange is a captivating blend of dried apricot, orange zest, and white flowers. Subtle hints of almond, honey, and herbal undertones add layers of depth and complexity to the bouquet.

Palate:
On the palate, this wine is both vibrant and textural. Flavors of candied citrus, ripe peach, and a touch of ginger are beautifully balanced by a refreshing acidity and a slight tannic grip from the skin contact. The natural fermentation process lends a slight effervescence, enhancing its lively character.

Finish:
The finish is long and memorable, with lingering notes of citrus peel, dried herbs, and a hint of salinity. The wine's crisp acidity and textural depth make for a complex and satisfying conclusion.

FOOD PAIRING

Poderi Cellario E’Orange pairs wonderfully with a variety of dishes. Its acidity and complexity make it an excellent match for seafood, such as grilled octopus, shrimp ceviche, or sushi. It also complements vegetarian dishes, like roasted root vegetables, hearty salads, and creamy risottos. For a unique pairing, try it with a selection of aged cheeses or a charcuterie board.
