2023 Thee and Thou Lodi Movie Night
ABOUT
ABOUT
Vineyards & Farming – “Movie Night” pulls 43 % Syrah (Terra Alta), 37 % Mataro/Mourvèdre (Miravet), and 20 % Grenache (Hunters Oak) from three organically tended sites on Clements Hills’ rolling, iron-rich loams. Warm daytime sun ripens dark fruit; Delta breezes drop night temps, locking in perfume and acidity.
Winemaking – All picks arrive pre-dawn. Clusters are destemmed, foot-trod, and left on skins 10-12 days in open vats; native yeasts handle the ferment while gentle pump-overs build color without harsh tannin. Free-run and press lots age eleven months in neutral French barrels, gaining polish yet zero oak flavor. No fining, filtration, or additions beyond a kiss of SO₂ at bottling (12.7 % abv).
In the Glass – A ruby pour that smells like black cherry Jolly Rancher tossed with cracked pepper and dried lavender. Medium body—lithe, not heavy—delivers raspberry preserves, cranberry snap, and smoky meat umami wrapped in silky tannins. Brisk acidity and a stony, mineral echo keep each sip lively and bone-dry. Pop it with a slight chill and the bottle empties faster than the previews.
