2018 Domaine de Montille 1er Cru Les Aigrots

Aromas of citrus oil, white flowers, green stone fruits and marzipan introduce the 2017 Beaune 1er Cru Les Aigrots Blanc, a medium to full-bodied, racy and precise wine with a fleshy core of delicately sun-kissed fruit. This is a bright, focused Beaune that represents a fine success for de Montille.

Soft wood sets off the pretty and attractively layered nose of matchstick, floral and various white-fleshed fruit aromas. The seductively textured flavors are almost lush though the mineral and citrus-infused finish manages to avoid any sense of heaviness. This is attractive in its fashion if not especially sophisticated.

The 2017 Beaune Les Aigrots Blanc 1er Cru is back to a normal production volume. In fact, as much was produced in 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 combined! It has an attractive bouquet with orange blossom, mandarin and light spicy aromas. The palate is well balanced with a fine line of acidity, slightly waxy in texture with an attractive, rather phenolic finish. Very fine.
