ABOUT

236 day skin-contact Gewurztraminer from Sunnyside Vineyard in the Willamette Valley AVA (soon to be South Salem Hills AVA, pending approval).

The vines were planted in 1984 at 700 feet elevation in rocky, volcanic (Jory) soils. Fermented in concrete egg and aged in old oak.

Grapes: Gewurztraminer from Montinore Estate Vineyards

Appellation: Tualatin Hills sub0AVA of the Willamette Valley

Soils: WIndblown loess

Irrigation: Nope

Farming: Biodynamic and Organically certified

Harvest Dates: 10/7/19

Yeast: Native

Alcohol: 12.5%

Cases Produced: 173

Notes: The harvest of 2019 will be remembered for the abundance of precipitation that fell in September and early October. We were lucky to pick perfectly ripe grapes between rain showers. Fruit came from 3 7-year-old vines at Montinore Estate Vineyards and was allowed to macerate, on-skins, for 234 days in egg-shaped fermenters. After draining and pressing, the wine aged for two months in French oak barrels before bottling without fining or filtration. In the glass, you'll find aromas of fresh apricot, ginger and satsuma.
