2017 Piove Terre Siciliane Rosso

Piove is a label made by Michael Schmelzer, the winemaker at Monte Bernardi in Chianti Classico, who also makes Fuori Strada and a host of other well-known labels. Piove comes from one organically farmed vineyard in Camporeale, in the Trapani province of western Sicily. His Rosso is a blend of 85% Nero d'Avola, 10% Nerello Mascalese and 5% Frappato from organic vineyards in Camporeale. This is a Cerasuolo-style blend that shows beautiful raspberry and strawberry notes, a soft palate and good structure.
