Shiraz / Syrah

Yes, they are the same thing! Shiraz is referred to in Australia and some other parts of the New World, where as Syrah is the much more widely used term, in France, California, Washington, Chile, and elsewhere in Europe. Whatever you call it, Syrah fascinates wine aficionados with its full, smoky, spicy, and meaty characteristics, as well as its ability to shine with or without oak aging.
