ABOUT

Brovia Dolcetto d’Alba 'Vignavillej' is a delightful dry red wine from the renowned Alba region in Piedmont, Italy. Produced by the esteemed Brovia winery, this wine is made from 100% Dolcetto, a grape variety known for its bright fruit and approachable character. 'Vignavillej' comes from a single vineyard, reflecting the pure expression of the terroir and the skilled craftsmanship of the Brovia family, who have been making exceptional wines in Piedmont for generations.

Harvested from classic clay-limestone soils from plots in Castiglione Falletto and Serralunga d’Alba, some planted in 1981 and the other portion in 1993.  The grapes are crushed and fermented in stainless steel at 29 degrees Celsius for a period of a week to 10 days; then aged in stainless steel for seven to nine months before the bottling (unfiltered).

TASTING NOTES

Nose
The nose of Brovia Dolcetto d’Alba 'Vignavillej' is fragrant and inviting, with aromas of ripe black cherries, plums, and wild berries. Subtle notes of violets, licorice, and a touch of earthy minerality add depth and complexity, making the bouquet both fresh and enticing.

Palate
On the palate, this Dolcetto is medium-bodied and smooth, with flavors of juicy dark fruits, particularly cherries and blackberries. The wine’s bright acidity and soft tannins provide a lively, yet balanced mouthfeel. There is a subtle note of spice and a hint of almond, typical of well-made Dolcetto.

Finish
The finish is crisp and clean, with lingering notes of ripe fruit, a touch of earth, and a slight bitterness typical of Dolcetto’s traditional style. The balanced acidity ensures a refreshing aftertaste, making it a versatile wine that pairs well with food.

FOOD PAIRING

Brovia Dolcetto d’Alba 'Vignavillej' pairs beautifully with a variety of Italian dishes. Its freshness and fruit-forward profile make it an excellent match for pizza, pasta with tomato-based sauces, and grilled vegetables. It also complements lighter meats such as roasted chicken or pork and is delightful with charcuterie and mild cheeses like Fontina or fresh mozzarella. For a traditional Piedmontese pairing, enjoy it with agnolotti or a simple mushroom risotto.
