2019 Cantina del Taburno Aglianico del Taburno Fidelis
ABOUT
ABOUT
Fidelis 2019 captures everything that makes Taburno one of Campania’s most inspiring Aglianico zones.
High-elevation vineyards—some cresting 450–500 meters—sit on volcanic ash and mineral-rich clay, keeping the heat in check and giving the grape the freshness it needs to shine. Cantina del Taburno harvests by hand, destems fully, and carries out a long, slow fermentation that builds structure without sacrificing fruit purity.
A year in neutral oak and large casks softens the grape’s natural tannin while letting the volcanic character stay front and center. The wine opens with dark cherry, plum skin, and blackberry, slowly revealing layers of spice—clove, black pepper, and a touch of leather—wrapped around a cool, iron-tinged backbone.
Smooth yet powerful, Fidelis walks a confident line between richness and restraint. It’s unmistakably southern Italian—sun-warmed, savory, and quietly muscular—but polished enough to drink beautifully now, especially after a short decant. Over the next 6–8 years, it will take on deeper notes of cocoa, dried herb, and tobacco.
