Domaine Collin Bourisset Moulin-a-Vent des Hospices

Since the early 19th Century the patients of the Hospices in Romanèche-Thorins bequeathed sections of vineyards to the hospital, as compensation for their care. Located at the southern tip of Burgundy, the vineyards have accumulated to form an estate of more than 6 hectares. Beginning with the 1926 vintage, Collin-Bourisset, recognized as a Moulin-à-Vent specialist, was put in charge with the exclusive care of producing, aging and marketing this superb wine. This wine is produced from 100% Gamay grapes grown on soil that has prevalent granite with manganese. Grapes are harvested by hand only, with vinification in whole bunches with submerged cap and destemming. Traditional, long fermentation, between 10 to 12 days ensures the wine keeps an excellent color and has superb tannin extraction. The wine is then partially aged in oak barrels.
