Domaine sebastien brunet 100% petillant naturel grolleau

From .6 hectares of 55 year old vines of grolleau and gamay vines planted in flint-clay soils, the vines are planted with vegetation between them and treated with organic practices only. The grapes are hand-harvested between september and october, not de-stemmed and go directly to pressing. The grapes are then moved to stainless steel tanks where spontaneous fermentation begins with indigenous yeasts lasting three weeks without temperature control. Allowed to rest in tank for approximately two months and unfiltered. Upon disgorging the wine is given minuscule amounts of so2

Sebastien david lisounette rose

Another 15th generation winemaker, sebastien david manages his 15-hectare estate in saint-nicolas-de-bourgueil, where the david family has been making wine, always from cabernet franc, since 1634. They call him ‘hurluberlu’, which roughly translates as “eccentric man who looks at stars to farm” – and sebastien is that crazy man who follows biodynamic practices (many involving the moon) and works super naturally, with no additions (not even so2), and no fining/filtering. ‘lisounette’ is his first rosé, and he knocked it out of the park.

Tasting notes: savory, salty, bone-dry with watermelon and spicy cherry notes, this is a happy spring wine to drink now, properly chilled, with great abandon, on your deck, in your backyard, during those virtual happy hour sessions.
