2020 Mocali Brunello di Montalcino

The 2021 Vintage represents a textbook Tuscan growing season — warm and dry with well-timed precipitation yielding fruit with exceptional concentration and naturally refreshing acidity. The 2021s are being heralded across Montalcino as some of the most expressive and age-worthy wines in recent memory.

Tasting Notes:  Brilliant ruby red in the glass. The nose is complex and inviting — crushed raspberries and wild cherries lead, followed by dried flowers, licorice, mint, cedar shavings, and a thread of white smoke. On the palate it is full-bodied yet elegant, with silken textures, cool-toned acidity, and ripe tannins that are youthful but impeccably structured. Flavors of plum, redcurrant, and wild berries are woven through with earthy spice, tobacco, and a pleasantly bitter mineral finish of excellent length.

Approachable now with decanting, but best from 2028–2045. This is a wine built for patience.

Nose: Dark cherry, black plum, and dried rose layered with cedar, tobacco, and a hint of warm earth.

Palate: Concentrated cherry and blackberry wrapped in firm, polished tannins, lifted by vibrant acidity and subtle spice.

Finish: Long and savory with cherry skin, cedar, and a resonant mineral echo.

Ideal with hearty Tuscan dishes—think bistecca alla Fiorentina, slow-braised wild boar, or porcini risotto. The wine’s depth, structure, and earthy complexity elevate robust flavors and create a beautifully harmonious table experience.
